En una casa de Culiacán Sinaloa, México, todos los sábados la familia se reunía, y cuando el atardecer del pacífico mexicano empezaba a esclarecer, las tías sacaban todas las sillas al patio y daban por inaugurada la parte del día de hablar de sufrimientos y enfermedades: ¡ay dolor, ya me volviste a dar!, entonaban todas juntas, seguido de una carcajada estruendosa. Poemas al dolor, es un poemario que pone en manifiesto un sentimiento y sensación poco querida por las personas y que sin embargo, es leal y nos caracteriza como seres humanos y humanas. En nosotras las mujeres, el dolor siempre nos ha constituido como una constante. ¿Ser mujer es sinónimo de venir a este mundo a sufrir dolor? Este poemario, es una manifestación contra la idea de que venimos a la vida a quejarnos del dolor y a sobrevivir de él. Como lo expone la autora al recordar que en una casita del norte de México, todas las tías de la familia se reunían cada sábado para gritar con decoro: ¡ay dolor, ya me volviste a dar!, el dolor se debe sentir y procesar para luego soltar.
In a house in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, every Saturday the family gathered, and when the sunset over the Mexican Pacific began to glow, the aunts would bring all the chairs out to the patio and inaugurate that part of the day dedicated to sharing their sufferings: “Oh pain, you’ve come back again!” they would chant together, followed by a loud laughter. Poems to Pain is a poetry collection that reveals a feeling and sensation few people welcome, yet one that is loyal and defines us as human beings. For us women, pain has always been a constant presence. Is being a woman synonymous with coming into this world to suffer pain? This collection is a statement against the idea that we come into life merely to complain about pain and survive it. As the author recalls, in a little house in northern Mexico, all the aunts would gather every Saturday to cry out with grace: “Oh pain, you’ve come back again!”—a reminder that pain must be felt and processed, and then, finally, released.
En el capítulo “La migración calificada Sur-Sur: el caso de jóvenes ucranianos a Polonia, analizo con la Dra. Nicoleta Tigau la 4ta ola migratoria ucraniana a Polonia. Una migración calificada y que sin embargo, busca como primera entrada a la Unión Europea (UE) oportunidades en el vecino miembro de la OTAN. A través de entrevistas, analizamos este nuevo fenómeno, mayoritariamente ignorado por la guerra Rusia-Ucrania.
In the chapter “South–South Skilled Migration: The Case of Young Ukrainians to Poland,” co-authored with Nicoleta Tigau, I analyze the fourth wave of Ukrainian migration to Poland. This is a highly skilled migratory flow that, nevertheless, uses the neighboring Poland—a member of both the European Union and NATO—as the primary entry point into Europe in search of new opportunities. Through in-depth interviews, we examine this emerging phenomenon, which has been largely overlooked amid the broader focus on the Russia–Ukraine war.
